background / biography

An uncompromising and ambitious band from Nottingham UK, The Hollow Earth Theory push themselves harder than most bands can take and the results are spectacular! With their recent CD ‘Hanging of the Followers’, the Hollow Earth Theory have taken another large step forward, effortlessly fusing face melting thrash to ferocious beatdowns and introspective instrumentals to grooving sing alongs.

The Hollow Earth Theory formed from the ashes of UKHC band Restraint (Who toured with Medulla Nocte, Stampin’ Ground, Charger etc.) and recorded their first full length ‘Watch the World Collapse’ in 2002.
As the band developed and moved away from the traditional Hardcore sound, incorporating more melody, the band’s line up changed. Nathan Biggs from North Wales became the new singer, Mark Darbyshire joined to play bass and guitarist Alex Jones moved 200 miles from East Anglia to play guitar with the band. With Alex and Craig in their final year at University the band recorded EP ‘Angels to others’ themselves and continued to gig around the UK, creating a wider fan base with every show.

In 2006 the band recorded ‘Hanging of the Followers’ with legendary producer Dave Chang. Since releasing the CD the band have received airplay on Kerrang! FM many times as their BREAKTHRU BAND, been on the cover mount CD of Metal Hammer and been interviewed on Total Rock radio. The CD has also been used as a prize in competitions in ‘Unsigned magazine’.

The Hollow Earth Theory’s recent reviews and magazine features have been exceptionally positive and are propagating further interest in the group. The band have also directed their own music video for their song ‘Letter to the Lost’ which has been played on Redemption TV and also is viewable online.
With increasingly high profile gigs (supporting bands such as Skindred, Dog Eat Dog, and Forever Never) The Hollow Earth Theory are now more committed than ever to get out there and show the world what they are capable of.
